- Former Blazer GM Kevin Pritchard on Portland’s new interim coach Caleb Kanales. Hopefully he can bring some excitement and energy to this team. A lot of people out there are saying he could be quite the coach.

Big changes in PDX. No more McMillian, no more #1 overall pick, and the starting small-forward and center just got traded to New Jersey and Houston. I’m glad to see the Blazers blow this team up, but I really wish it would have been Felton and Crawford that had been dealt. Either way, good moves for the Blazers in that they are now flushed with cap space for next year (to sign Batum and a big free-agent) and may have a couple of high draft picks to work into a trade or use to get some exciting young players. It’s all about next year now.

Coach Nate got the ax today, let go by the Blazers at the trade deadline. I think he’s a really good coach who took to much of the blame for the Blazers play this season. But with the lack of energy they’ve been playing with lately, he probably had to go. I’m sure he’ll get another coaching job whenever he’s ready to get back at it.

Brandon Roy considering a comeback??? He wouldn’t be able to sign with the Blazers until 2015 so I think it’s safe to say that he wouldn’t be back with Portland. I don’t understand what has changed since he retired before the season started. He probably misses playing basketball so much that he’s willing to try anything. I’m a little skeptical that it’s going to happen, but anything is possiible and I’d love to see Roy play again.

ANOTHER microfracture surgery on Greg Oden’s knee. Just sad. I know a lot of people in Portland hate Oden for being hurt all the time and letting everybody down, but I don’t think that fair. His body won’t let him play basketball and has totally let him down. He seems like a good guy and really wants to help this team, but it looks like it’s never gonna happen.

With this surgery, not only will he miss the rest of this season, but most likely most of next season too. At this point I think he has to consider retirement and finding something else that makes him happy. Sad day (again) for Portland Trailblazers fans and Greg Oden.
